General Mental Health

There are a number of free electronic resources available to the community that promote mental health, well-being and psychological research findings.

We encourage you to access these resources to support the work that you are doing with your individual practitioner.

  • mindhealthconnect (web: mindhealthconnect.org.au ) is the easy way to find mental health and wellbeing information, support and services from Australia’s leading health providers, together in one place. Supported by the Australian Government, mindhealthconnect helps you to find information you can trust
  • Mental Health Online (web: mentalhealthonline.org.au ) Formerly Anxiety Online, Mental Health Online is an internet-based treatment clinic for people with mental health problems. It is an initiative of the National eTherapy Centre (NeTC) at Swinburne University of Technology and funded by the Federal Department of Health and Ageing.
  • SANE (web: sane.org) provides information when you need to know about mental health and illness including treatments, support, and how you can help yourself, a family member or friend, or employee
  • National Eating Disorders Collaboration (web: nedc.com.au) brings expertise, experience and evidence from leaders in the field together in one place. Our primary purpose is to make eating disorders information a lot more accessible for everyone.

For Veterans and Their Families

  • At Ease (web: at-ease.dva.gov.au ) is a website that provides mental health information for serving, ex-service and reservist ADF personnel, veterans, and their families
  • The Right Mix (web: therightmix.gov.au ) provides information, tools and strategies that can reduce the impact of drinking on your lifestyle.

Non-English Speaking Services

  • TIS National (web: tisnational.gov.au/en ) The Translating and Interpreting Service is an interpreting service provided by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection for people who do not speak English and for agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients.

For Children and Young People

  • Reach Out (web: reachout.com ) Information on a range of mental health issues. Most relevant for young people
  • KidsHelpLine (web: kidshelpline.com.au ) information for children aged 5 – 25 years on a range of mental health and relationship issues

For Parents

  • ParentLine (web: parentline.com.au ) provides information on common childhood and parenting concerns from birth to adolescence.
  • CEIDA (web: ceida.net.au ) This aim of this site is to provide important information about drugs, for at one stage we will all have a loved one whether it is a child, sibling, parent or friend associated with or facing the dangers of drugs.
  • Kids Matter (web: kidsmatter.edu.au/families ) KidsMatter website provides information from the Australian mental health and wellbeing initiative in primary schools and early childhood education and care services. It’s unique because it brings together information for all the most important people in a child’s life – especially families!
  • Raising Children Network (web: raisingchildren.net.au ) provides scientifically validated content in everyday language to help parents and carers make decisions that work for them in their individual family circumstances.
